Abstract A Randomized Doubleblind Trial on the Efficacy of a Homeopathic Drug for Rheumatoid Arthritis

For 12 weeks a randomized, doubleblind, controlled, trial was set up to compare the homeopathic drug 'Rheumaselect' with placebo. 111 patients with rheumatoid arthritis were treated with the verum or placebo by six general practitioners.

A successful treatment was defined by an improvement of the following criteria: pain at night, resting, movement, inflamatory signs, morning stiffness, fatigue, patient's assessment of pain, functional index according to Lee, and the overall assessment of the therapy documented by the treating physician and by the patient.

The main outcome of the study was that both groups made a remarkable improvement concerning above criteria. However, the verum group improved significantly better. This study shows a significant efficiency of the homoeopathic drug 'Rheumaselect'.
