| Abstract | Efficiency of a Homoeopathic Drug in Rheumatoid Arthritis - Discussion of Critical Remarks and Outlook In this journal [Akt Rheum 16, (1991)] we published the results of a randomised double blind study on the efficiency of the homoeopathic drug 'Rheumaselect' in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. (see reference 6). This study had a remarkable number of drop-outs and it was criticized that the statistical evaluation was not based on the principle of 'intention to treat'. Therefore, we performed a reanalysis according to 'intention to treat' and still received significant efficacy of the drug investigated, Nevertheless, we invite other investigators to conduct a second study for doubleproofing the efficiency of the drug. But even more desirable are randomized double-blind studies for the numerous phytotherapeutical and homoeopathical remedies where a convincing proof of efficiency is still missing. | |
