| Abstract | Unpublished reports documenting the positive effect on MS system of tea derived from the medicinal herb Ruta has prompted further study. The effects of Ruta on single Ranvier nodes of intact myelineated nerve fibres were tested. Herbal infusions caused depolarisation and unexcitability, which could be attributed to intolerable increases in concentrations of calcium and potassium ions. When the ionic concentration remained constant, excitability remained largely unaffected. | |
