| Abstract | Ruta graveolens is a medicinal herb which has been used in medicine for quite some time. During antiquity and the Middle Ages the plant was appreciated especially as a medicine against all kind of illness and misery. In the modem times Ruta graveolens has lost more and more of its significance. This might be related to the manifoldness of substances found in the plant which are rather incalculable in their pharmalogical effects. The main groups of substances are essential oil, flavonoids, cumarines, and alkaloids. Referring to informations we have got from South America the plant is expected to show curative effects in patients suffering from multiple sclerosis. This thesis will be examined which could result in the rediscovery of a very old medical herb. | |
