| Abstract | Abstract:
72 male and 72 female volunteers were administered various potencies of
Arnica or a placebo. After strenuous arm exercise (bilateral upper arm flexion
and extension) the concentration of related enzymes (Creatinkinase, Glutamatoxalacetate-transaminase)
was measured and the intensity of pain was determined by VAS (Visual Analogous
Scale). The orally applied dose of different potencies of Arnica showed no significant effect on muscular soreness. It must be noted that earlier studies with a smaller number of volunteers using only two potencies were significantly positive. In an additional study (Doctoral Thesis) with 24 male volunteers Arnica administered as gel showed a significant effect. |
